Religion Swims Across My Mind
When I was a little boy I sank in indecision
People always came to me promoting their religion
One fine morning I awoke and found my own true law
Fanatism spreads violence and no one knows what for

So music became my religion
And I learned to play an instrument
And I learned the ways of the notes, and tunings
And my visions are all golden, for I can compose my gospels
My church is everywhere, never silent
I can choose my prayers, and my prayers' tuning
I can choose my priest, and my priests' speeches
I can pray whenever I want, for I am taught with the ways of sound
The Wall of Sound
Magnificent in its message
Honest in its spreading faith
Better than a crucifix, crucified at my neck
Although an ascetic enemy
Music has no opposite
No Satan for this church
Therefore this is my temple
Our temple, our pagan ritual
Divided within an exponential combination of notes
Superior relative freedom available for all
No need to create propaganda for this church
People come on their own
Sometimes never realizing their devotion
To the one religion which can be tamed by rationality
The senses
